Local Mission
Mountain Resource Center (MRC) provides health and human services to residents in a service area of more than a thousand square miles in mountainous Jefferson and Park counties. MRC is a local source for access to many services including: emergency assistance with utilities, rent and mortgage payments, fuel, food, clothing and school supplies. MRC makes health and dental care available locally for uninsured/underinsured residents. They offer nutrition and health education as well as mental health services. MRC provides parent/child classes for ages 0 to 5, active parenting classes, parents as teachers programs, parenting workshops and a 24/7 Dad program. Domestic violence services include counseling, shelter referrals, safety plans and crisis assistance. Just two years ago MRC opened the Mountain Workforce Center in conjunction with the Jefferson County Workforce Center. They also provide emergency assistance for victims and first responders to community-wide disasters such as wildfires and blizzards. "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" is the Mountain Resource Center motto. Each year hundreds of volunteers donate more than ten thousand hours, working in every program and all events. Check out their website at www.mrcco.org or find them on Facebook.
